Most shops know scrap is expensive. Few can say which part, machine, or supplier costs them the most. That number is the starting point for getting it down.
Scrap count alone can mislead. Ten cheap bushings are not ten finished housings. Put a cost on each scrapped or reworked piece: material plus the labor and machine time already invested at the point it failed.
Then slice it. By job tells you which orders hurt. By part tells you which drawings or processes are fragile. By machine tells you where maintenance or setup is the issue. By supplier tells you whose incoming material is costing you downstream.
Collect it where the work happens. A tablet at the machine with a short reason list takes seconds. A form turned in at the end of the week is already half forgotten.
Our sample system shows scrap by job, part, and machine alongside jobs and inventory. Tell us what your shop needs.
